This fashion season most people are more than a little concerned about the increasing costs of living: with fuel prices rising, VAT increasing to 20%, household bills on the rise, etc, it can be difficult to find the money to purchase clothes, and even more so, to find the resources to purchase designer clothes. However, should we still be purchasing designer clothes during this difficult financial climate? Are they worth it? I believe that the answer to these questions is, ‘yes’.
Firstly, imagine the differences between designer dresses, and the average high-street dresses. The designer dress is generally made from higher-quality materials, has been designed to a higher specification – meaning that they are generally more flattering to the figure – and as such, both looks better and lasts longer. A designer dress may cost upwards of £100, but will last for a long time, a non-designer dress may only cost £50, but equally, may only last one fashion season before it needs replacing. This means that, probably, you will need to buy two or three non-designer dresses for the same period of time that you will only need one designer dress, so therefore, the non-designer dress works out more expensive in the end.
Furthermore, the higher quality boasted by designer dresses ensures that the problems encountered by lower quality clothes, such as colour fade and shrinkage, are much less likely to arise. All in all then, as far as money is concerned, the cheaper clothes are not necessarily as cheap as they appear to be on the surface.
Fortunately, the current economic climate has created some great opportunities for the average consumer. Many of the world’s leading designers are reducing their prices; therefore, designer clothes are becoming more affordable for the average person.
Designer clothes have another advantage over non-designer clothes; they imbue the wearer with a sense of confidence, style, and sophistication they would not otherwise, necessarily, feel. They convey to the world that the wearer is a conscientious person, who likes to take care of himself, or herself, and makes an effort in the way they choose to live their lives.
The best place to purchase designer clothing is where you are right now: online. There are many online retailers that specialise in selling designer clothes, and as such, there is a great deal of choice, much more than can be found in a town centre on a busy Saturday afternoon, and in a much more convenient manner – no need to move from where you are sitting right now.
